Maurice Clayton – Behaviour Support Practitioner

Founder, Pattern & Path Positive Behaviour Support

Maurice (Moe) Clayton is a Behaviour Support Practitioner providing NDIS behaviour support across Victoria. He is the founder of Pattern & Path Positive Behaviour Support, delivering functional behaviour assessments, behaviour support plans, and practical staff training for individuals with complex needs.

Maurice works with individuals, families, and support teams in complex, high-risk, and often unstable environments. This includes situations where risk has escalated, supports have been inconsistent, or previous approaches have not been effective. His work focuses on understanding the function of behaviour and translating this into practical, implementable strategies that improve safety, consistency, and quality of life.

Since 2021, Maurice has worked as a Positive Behaviour Support Clinician, providing specialist behaviour support to people with complex needs and diverse lived experiences. His work spans home, community, and service settings, often alongside teams experiencing pressure, burnout, or systemic challenges.

Over the past decade, Maurice has worked across the disability, youth work, and Indigenous education sectors in both frontline and leadership roles. This experience informs his approach to navigating real-world service environments, where competing demands, risk, and limited resources are often present.

Maurice holds a Bachelor of Health Science (majoring in Psychology and People, Society and Disability) and is currently completing a Master of Social Work.

His practice is grounded in collaboration, functional assessment, and a strong emphasis on implementation. He prioritises approaches that are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with least restrictive practice. This includes supporting teams to build consistency, reduce escalation, and implement strategies that are realistic within their environment.

Through Pattern & Path Positive Behaviour Support, Maurice works closely with families, support coordinators, and providers to deliver consistent, evidence-based support that improves quality of life and reduces behaviours of concern.
